Canva alternatives

Compare Adobe Express, Kittl, Visme, Figma, and Microsoft Designer as Canva alternatives by free plan limits, commercial use, team pricing, and AI.

What do you need to change?

Canva tends to be replaced for one of three reasons. Pro covers a single person, so a growing team moves to per-person Business pricing; the work needs closer ties to professional design tools; or the output is specialised, such as merch and packaging or data-heavy decks. Adobe Express fits teams already on Adobe apps, and Figma fits teams whose designers already work there. Kittl is built for vector print work, Visme for branded reports and presentations, and Microsoft Designer is a free option for personal projects only.

Five alternatives to consider

Design tools

Adobe Express

Consider Adobe Express when you want a similar template-led editor with Firefly generative AI, and your designers' Photoshop and Illustrator assets should flow into quick content.

Adobe's quick-design app for social graphics, flyers, videos, and documents, with templates, Adobe Stock assets, Firefly generative AI, and Creative Cloud integration.

Pricing model
A free plan with no card required includes 5GB of storage and limited generative credits. Premium, for one person, has a 30-day free trial and 250 generative credits a month. The Teams plan is priced per licence with a two-seat minimum and adds brand controls, an Admin Console, and pooled storage.
Before choosing
Generative AI uses a monthly credit allowance; estimate how many images and edits you generate in a typical month, and note that a team needs at least two Teams licences.
Design tools

Kittl

Consider Kittl when most of your work is vector graphics for T-shirts, labels, packaging, or logos, previewed on mockups and exported for print.

A browser-based design tool with an infinite canvas, vector and text-effect tools, mockups, and AI image and video generation, aimed at merch, packaging, and brand assets.

Pricing model
A free plan for personal use only, with five projects, low-resolution PNG and JPG exports, and a one-off 100 AI tokens. Paid plans add a commercial licence, high-resolution and vector exports, premium templates, and monthly AI tokens. Viewers are free; additional editors are charged.
Before choosing
Anything you sell or use for a business needs a paid plan, and the Pro and Expert licence covers up to 500,000 copies; check that limit against your print runs.
Design tools

Visme

Consider Visme when the content is mainly branded presentations, reports, proposals, and interactive charts or forms for business audiences.

A content platform for presentations, documents, infographics, charts, interactive forms, and video, with brand kits and team collaboration.

Pricing model
A free Basic plan with unlimited projects, limited templates and assets, 500MB of storage, and 10 AI credits a month. Starter and Business are priced per person, and downloading as PowerPoint, HTML5, video, or GIF starts on Business. Enterprise is sold from 10 users.
Before choosing
If you hand decks over as PowerPoint files or video, price the Business plan; the free and Starter plans have narrower download options.
Design tools

Figma

Consider Figma when your designers already build in it and want others to produce on-brand assets from their templates, using the Figma Buzz beta available on every seat type.

A browser-based design and prototyping tool with real-time collaboration, shared libraries, Dev Mode for handoff, and AI features.

Pricing model
The free Starter plan covers a single team with one folder and three files, with 30 days of version history and a daily AI credit allowance. Paid plans are priced per seat, with Full, Dev, and Collab seats, and people on paid plans can let others view and comment without buying extra seats.
Before choosing
Seats are priced by type; list who needs a Full seat, who only inspects designs (Dev), and who only comments before estimating cost.
Design tools

Microsoft Designer

Consider Microsoft Designer for free, AI-generated invitations, cards, and social images for personal use; its licence does not cover business use.

Microsoft's AI design app for images, cards, invitations, social posts, stickers, collages, and photo edits, on the web and in iOS and Android apps.

Pricing model
Free to use with a Microsoft account. Microsoft says a subscription may be required for people who want to create more frequently.
Before choosing
Designer is licensed for personal, non-commercial use, so it does not cover marketing for a business; keep it for personal projects.

When Canva may still fit

Keep Canva on the shortlist when many non-designers make a wide mix of everyday content, from social posts to decks, documents, and print, in one place. Business bills only for members who accept an invitation, so you can add people as you need them.

Only one person can use a Pro account; if several people share brand kits and designs, price Business per person and check how much of the monthly AI allowance your team would use.

Before you switch

  1. Recreate three designs you make every month, such as a social post, a flyer, and a short deck, in each candidate and note what had to be rebuilt.
  2. Check the commercial-use terms on the plan you would actually buy, including templates, stock assets, and AI-generated images.
  3. Export each design in the formats you hand over, such as PNG, print-ready PDF, PowerPoint, or SVG, and open the files where they will be used.

Which Canva alternative is best for print-on-demand and merch designs?

In our judgment, Kittl, which is built around vector tools, text effects, and product mockups for items such as T-shirts and labels. You need a paid plan for commercial use and for high-resolution or vector exports.

How does Canva pricing compare with Adobe Express?

Both have a free plan and a one-person paid plan with a free trial: Canva Pro and Adobe Express Premium.
