Suno alternatives

Compare ElevenLabs, Stable Audio, AIVA, SOUNDRAW, and Udio as Suno alternatives by commercial-use terms, download limits, vocals, and free plans.

What do you need to change?

Three things usually send people looking past Suno: its free plan is non-commercial with no song downloads, paid plans cap downloads each month, or the job calls for licensed background music rather than full songs with vocals. ElevenLabs is the closest song-making alternative, and Udio is often mentioned but currently has downloads switched off. Stable Audio includes a commercial licence even on its free plan, AIVA's Pro plan assigns you the copyright, and SOUNDRAW is built around background tracks for video.

Five alternatives to consider

AI music generators

ElevenLabs

Consider ElevenLabs when you want songs or instrumentals with section-by-section editing, an API, and voiceover and sound effects from the same credits, and its music terms fit your use and company size.

An AI audio platform whose Eleven Music generator makes songs and instrumentals from prompts, alongside text to speech, voice cloning, and sound effects.

Pricing model
Every product draws on one monthly credit pool; music uses credits per minute generated. The free plan cannot download music. Paid self-serve plans allow commercial use except film, TV, radio, and studio games, and Starter excludes release to streaming services.
Before choosing
Its music terms limit the Free to Pro plans to individual use, with Scale and Business for organisations under 10 and 50 employees; confirm which plan your company qualifies for.
AI music generators

Stable Audio

Consider Stable Audio when you mainly need instrumentals, loops, or sound effects with a commercial licence on every plan, and want to work inside your DAW.

Stability AI's music and sound generator, with a web app, a DAW plugin, and tracks of up to six minutes from models it says are trained on licensed material.

Pricing model
Every plan, free included, comes with a commercial licence. The free plan has 50 credits a month; paid plans add monthly credits that do not roll over. Audio made on a paid plan keeps its licence after you cancel.
Before choosing
The pricing page asks companies making over $1M a year to contact Stability AI about licensing; confirm which licence covers your use.
AI music generators

AIVA

Consider AIVA when you want composed instrumental tracks you can edit and export as MIDI, and need a plan that assigns the copyright to you.

An AI composition assistant that generates tracks in more than 250 styles, with editable compositions, custom style models, and MIDI as well as audio downloads.

Pricing model
The free plan allows three downloads a month for non-commercial use with credit to AIVA, which keeps the copyright. Standard allows monetisation on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and Instagram only. Pro assigns the copyright to you with full monetisation.
Before choosing
Its licence agreement treats businesses with three or more employees and over $300k in yearly revenue as enterprises that need a custom plan.
AI music generators

SOUNDRAW

Consider SOUNDRAW when the music is background for videos, podcasts, or apps, and you want unlimited downloads under one plain licence for your own content.

An AI music generator trained on music made by its own in-house team, built for royalty-free background tracks you can customise by instrument, intensity, and length.

Pricing model
A free account can generate and customise tracks, but downloading and the licence need a paid plan. The Creator plan covers background music with unlimited downloads; Artist plans add release on streaming services. Companies with ten or more employees need Enterprise.
Before choosing
Releasing a song on streaming services needs an Artist plan and a clearly modified track, and the licence page lists video you do not own, such as films, TV, and ads, as needing approval.
AI music generators

Udio

Consider Udio only for making and sharing songs on udio.com: its help centre says downloads of audio, video, and stems are disabled, so it does not suit music you need elsewhere.

An AI song generator that creates music from text prompts, with tools to extend, remix, and edit songs and share them on udio.com.

Pricing model
A free plan gives 10 credits a day, up to 100 a month. Standard and Pro add monthly credits and more simultaneous generations, and Standard has a one-time seven-day trial that excludes the higher credit limit.
Before choosing
Its help centre says downloading of audio, video, and stems has been disabled, so you cannot currently take songs out of Udio for use elsewhere.

When Suno may still fit

Keep Suno on the shortlist when you want complete songs with vocals and lyrics, and a paid plan's monthly download allowance covers what you publish. Pro and Premier subscribers get commercial use rights for downloaded songs, subject to Suno's terms.

Its terms allow commercial use only of songs downloaded within your plan's monthly download allowance, so count finished tracks, not generations.

Before you switch

  1. Write down the exact use, such as a paid ad, client work, a streaming release, or a film, then read each candidate's licence for that use on the plan you would buy.
  2. Count the finished tracks you need each month and compare download limits as well as generation credits.
  3. Generate the same brief in each candidate, download the files, and check format, length, stems, and any attribution you must show.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free alternative to Suno?

Stable Audio's free plan has 50 credits a month and includes a commercial licence. AIVA's free plan allows three downloads a month for non-commercial use with credit to AIVA, and Udio's free plan gives 10 credits a day but downloads are disabled. ElevenLabs' free plan cannot download music, and SOUNDRAW needs a paid plan to download. Suno's own free plan is non-commercial.

Which Suno alternatives can I use commercially?

Stable Audio gives a commercial licence on every plan, including free. AIVA allows limited monetisation on Standard and full monetisation on Pro. SOUNDRAW's paid plans cover background music in your own content. ElevenLabs' paid self-serve plans allow commercial use except film, TV, radio, and studio games. In our judgment, the safest choice is whichever written licence matches your exact use.

Can I still download songs from Udio?

Not at present. Udio's help centre says downloading of audio, video, and stems was disabled after its partnership with Universal Music Group, and songs can still be shared through udio.com links. Check its current terms before planning around it.

Who owns music made with Suno and its alternatives?

Suno assigns its rights in output to Pro and Premier subscribers, but says it cannot promise that copyright exists in AI-generated output. AIVA's Pro plan assigns the copyright to you, while on Free and Standard AIVA keeps it. Stable Audio says you own what you make and can commercialise it. Read the terms for the plan you would actually use.
